Our Story

BENJAMIN RABANAL WAS BORN AND RAISED IN HAUULA HAWAII. HE CAME TO LOS ANGELES IN THE EARLY 50'S WITH A HANDFUL OF OTHER HAWAIIAN SOPHISTICS SUCH AS BOOGIE KALAMA, BLUE MAKUA, BLA JAMES, DONALD TAKAYAMA AND THE PATTERSON BROTHERS. HIS GOAL WAS TO SHAPE SURFBOARDS AND RACE MOTORCYCLES IN LOS ANGELES. HIS FIRST GIG WAS WITH GREG NOLL AND BING COPELAND IN HERMOSA BEACH WHERE HE WOULD SHAPE DURING THE DAY AND REPAIR MOTORCYCLES IN THE EVENING. HE OPENED UP HIS FIRST SHOP AT THE NOLL FACTORY IN THE LATE 50'S AND BUILT TT BIKES AND RACED THE AMA CURCIT WITH LEGENDARY RIDERS DEWAYNE KEETER, DAVID "SWED" SAVAGE AND DICK MANN. HE RODE BIG WAVES AND FAST BIKES UNDER THE NUMBER 75 PLATE "THE FLYING HAWAIIAN".

IN THE EARLY 70'S I WATCHED THE SCENE UNFOLD. THE WHOLE CUSTOM CULTURE MOVEMENT WAS STARTING TO GAIN MOMENTUM. IT WAS ALL ABOUT LOWRIDERS, HOTRODS AND MOTORCYCLES IN THE MID 70'S, AND THE BOULEVARD WAS WHERE IT WAS AT. YOU COULD FIND IT ALL THERE EVERY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. IN THE 80'S I OPENED MY FIRST SHOP CALLED WORLD WIDE HYDRAULICS IN SOUTH CENTRAL LA ON FLORENCE BL. WE SPECIALIZED IN AUTOMOTIVE RESTORATION AND CUSTOMIZING. IN THE EARLY 90'S A FRIEND CAME BY THE SHOP AND ASKED IF I COULD BUILD A HARLEY DAVIDSON TO MATCH HIS CAR WE JUST FINISHED FOR HIM? I REPLIED "YES" AND BUILT HIM A 1979 SHOVELHEAD. IN 1994 I JOINED LIFESTYLE CAR CLUB IN EAST LOS ANGELES. IT WAS THERE THAT I BEGAN TO UNDERSTAND PAINT AND DETAIL IN CUSTOM CAR AND MOTORCYCLE. I MOVED MY SHOP TO DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES IN 1999 AND RENAMED IT SUPERCO WHERE WE HAVE BEEN BUILDING IN TILL THIS VERY DAY. THROUGH OUT THE YEARS SUPERCO HAS BEEN A FORCE IN THE CUSTOM CULTURE BOTH IN AUTOMOTIVE AND MOTORCYCLE. WE ARE NOT THE BIGGEST OR THE BEST SHOP. WE ARE JUST US AND ARE HAPPY TO BE JUST THAT.
